ကမၸည္းေက်ာက္စာဝန္ေနရာေရႊ႕သြားေသာ ျပင္သစ္လူမ်ိဳး ဒူရြိဳင္ဇယ္၏ ရန္ကုန္ေကာလိပ္ ပါဠိပရုိဖက္ဆာဆရာႀကီးေနရာတြင္ ရန္ကုန္ဟုိက္စကူးေက်ာင္းဆရာႀကီး ၂၄ ႏွစ္ရြယ္သူ မႏၱေလးေတာင္ခြင္သာသနာပုိင္ေျမး ျမန္မာခရစ္ယာန္ ေမာင္တင္ (အမ္ေအ၊ ကာလကတၱား)ကုိ ဟုိႏွစ္တရာက ခန္႔ထားသည္။ ဘားနတ္ပိဋကတ္တုိက္အုပ္၊ ျမန္မာႏုိင္ငံသုေတသနအသင္းဂ်ာနယ္ အယ္ဒီတာခ်ဳပ္၊ လန္ဒန္ပါဠိအသင္း အေရွ႕တုိင္းကုိယ္စားလွယ္၊ အစုိးရပါဠိပထမျပန္စာေမးပြဲစစ္အရာရွိတာဝန္မ်ားလည္းယူရသည္။

၁၉၂၀ တြင္ ေမာင္တင္ကုိ ေအာက္စဖုိ႔ဒ္ပုိ႔၍ ဘီလစ္ စာေပဘြဲ႔ယူေစရာ အ႒သာလိနီေခၚ အဘိဓမၼာ အ႒ကထာက်မ္းႏွင့္ ဝိသုဒၶိမဂၢအ႒ကထာက်မ္းမ်ားကုိ အဂၤလိပ္ဘာသာျပန္ဆုိၿပီး ဘြဲ႔ယူခဲ့သည္။
ထုိဘြဲ႔ရဘူးသူ သူ႔ေနာက္တြင္ ေဒၚျမစိန္၊ ေဒါက္တာထင္ေအာင္ႏွင့္ မင္းသုဝဏ္တုိ႔ျဖစ္သည္။ ဘိလပ္တြင္ အဂၤလိပ္စာေပႏွင့္ ျမန္မာစာေပ သေဘာကုိ ဆင္ျခင္မိရာမွ ေရွးေဟာင္းစာေပကုိ ျပန္လည္ေဖာ္ထုတ္ရန္ စိတ္ကူးေပါက္သည္။ ေခတ္မီျမန္မာစာေပသစ္ကုိ ဖန္တီးရန္လည္း အႀကံရသည္။ ေအာက္စဖုိ႔ဒ္ ေဗာ့ဒလီယန္စာၾကည့္တုိက္၊ လန္ဒန္ ၿဗိတိသွ်စာၾကည့္တုိက္၊ အိႏၵိယျပတုိက္၊ အိႏၵိယရုံးစာၾကည့္တုိက္တုိ႔တြင္ရွိ ျမန္မာပုံႏွိပ္စာအုပ္မ်ားႏွင့္ ေပပုရပုိက္မ်ား ရွာေဖြကာ မွတ္စုေရးသားစုေဆာင္းခဲ့သည္။

There is one D.G.E Hall Scholarship for applicants who are proposing to register full-time for taught Masters programmes at SOAS in the academic session 2012/13.

The scholarship is shared with International Student House (ISH). The minimum value of the scholarship provided by SOAS will be £12,000 but the total value will be confirmed once the level of the School’s funding for 2012/13 is confirmed. In addition, ISH provides free accommodation together with a small contribution in food vouchers to be spent in the ISH restaurant.
Eligible Programme

Any full-time Masters programme
Part-time programmes are not eligible

Candidate Criteria

Applicants must possess a good honours degree from a U.K. university or equivalent recognized by the School. Candidates in their final year of study for a first degree are invited to apply.
Open only to those holding a Burma/Myanmar passport.

Monk historians in Mandalay

On the 5th of January, 2012, Burmese writers, researchers and reporters gather near Mandalay to commemorate birth anniversaries of the local monk historians (hsayadaws).

Ko Pannya from Amarapoora who hosted literary events and memorial stones in his monastery near Taungthaman Lake, resisting the junta’s pressure for years.

The monks with magnanimous knowledge on Burmese arts and archaeology and served as local pundits for foreign researchers since 1950s, contributing their research articles in Burmese press.
